What makes this book different from other duets is the addition of improvisation sections within the music itself. These are not Pop or Jazz improvisations over complicated chord patterns but simpler structured improvisations, often over a couple of repeated bars. In general, one instrument plays a supporting role whilst the other can experiment with melodic adventures over the top. Sometimes the players are asked to experiment by creating different sounds on their instruments.
